After a week of shocking and heartbreaking events, it was an absolute pleasure to have Kelly and Brian's wedding to focus on.  Kelly and Brian got married at St. Mary's in Plymouth, MA, and the reception was at Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston, MA.  Kelly was such a pleasure to work with, and was just so genuinely happy and excited every time I talked to her.  Congrats to Kelly & Brian!

I have to say, Kelly's bouquet was one of my all time favorites!  This bouquet had all the good stuff - peonies, freesia, ranunculus, anemones, hydrangea and stock!  I can't wait to see the amazing pictures of this wedding from Brooke Allison Photography!

Boston, You're My Home.

I don't usually share personal stories on this blog, but since this business was started in a small Boston apartment, I wanted to share my love for the city of Boston and thank the amazing first responders, law enforcement officers, and hospital staff that helped to save so many lives this past week.  I hope the survivors will find the strength and support they need to move forward, and know that we are thinking of them and wish them a speedy recovery.  The victims of this past week's horrific events and their families will always be in our thoughts and prayers.

Boston Public Garden

Boston was my home for over 5 years.  I lived with my best friend and sister in apartments in Brookline  and Beacon Hill, and later lived in the Seaport with my husband.  Before that I lived at Bentley in Waltham, just a town over from Watertown, MA.  I met my husband in a bar in Boston, and every date we had from that point on was somewhere in Boston.  We had our rehearsal dinner out on Boston Harbor, got married at a church in the North End, and had our reception at the Seaport Hotel.  We walked our dog all over the city, either through Southie down to Castle Island, or along the waterfront, letting her run crazy in the grass behind Moakley Courthouse, and stopping at the Aquarium to watch her try to play with the seals through the glass wall.  I worked for State Street in the Financial District and in Copley, and for Boston Beer Co in the Seaport.  While working in the Copley offices, I took classes at night at the Rittners School of Floral Design in the Back Bay, just a few blocks from the attacks.  In between all those moments and milestones, there were games and concerts at Fenway, birthdays in Faneuil Hall, dinners in the North End, skating on Frog Pond, after-work drinks at Tia's and McFadden's, wedding dress shopping, engagement parties, and too-many-to-count girls night outs.  I have endless amazing memories from the time I spent living in Boston, and will always consider Boston my home.

Last year on Patriot's Day, like so many other years, my sister and I walked up and down Boylston, Newbury, and Hereford Street, waiting to cheer on the runners at the Boston Marathon.  Both of our husbands, along with my sister-in-law, brother-in-law, and several other friends ran last year.  The Boston Marathon is an exciting, inspiring event.  Watching the runners accomplish such a challenging goal that they set for themselves, either to raise money for charity, in honor of a loved one, or just for fun, is an amazing experience.  With my busy spring wedding season starting this past week, I didn't make it in to watch the marathon this year; it was the first marathon Monday I've missed in years.  My husband has already said he wants to run it next year, and when he does, I will be there waiting to cheer him on.

Jamie & Andrew: The Villa at Ridder Country Club, East Bridgewater, MA

Jaime and Andrew's wedding was the ultimate definition of a "winter" wedding.  They got married on February 8, 2013, the same day the blizzard of 2013 decided to hit!  I haven't heard how the wedding went with the driving/travel ban starting at 4PM, and power outages starting a few hours later around the South Shore, but as of 3:30PM when I finished my final delivery stop, the wedding was still on and set to start at 5PM!  The wedding coordinator, Katelyn, and the staff at The Villa were amazing.  They had the room set and ready to go like it was any other day, and were extremely professional and calm with handling the situation.

 The bridesmaids bouquet was made up of burgundy and plum carnations, gerbera daisies, and roses.

 The centerpieces were made up of roses, lisianthus, carnations, cremon, calla lilies, and gerbera daisies.

 The guest book and card table both had a taller arrangement of stock, orchids, lisianthus, cremon, gerbera daisies, and roses.  We decorated the fireplace mantels at each end of the room with varied height vases filled with submerged purple dendrobium orchids and floating candles on top (picture not shown).

I don't have any pictures of the church flowers which was my last stop of the day, because to be honest, the roads were starting to get pretty bad, and I just wanted to get my butt home and off the roads!

Colleen & Tim: Pinehills Golf Club, Plymouth, MA

Colleen and Tim kicked off my 2013 wedding season with their January wedding at the Pavilion at Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth, MA.  Colleen and Tim wanted their wedding to have a vintage, wintery feel.

The bride's bouquet was made up of roses, spray roses, dusty miller, calla lilies, hydrangea, and lisianthus.

The bridesmaids carried a slightly simpler version of the bride's bouquet.

 The bar and place card table had small arrangements of roses, freesia, hydrangea, lisianthus and dusty miller.  The centerpieces were made up of white dendrobium orchids submerged in varied height vases with a floating candle on top (picture not shown, but similar to the centerpieces for Kerry & Adam's wedding in 2011).

The Last of the 2012 Weddings

This post is about 4 months late, but I can't start the new year off without finishing up the last couple weddings of 2012.  My second to last wedding on 2012 was for Grace and Jason, who got married in Harvard Square, and had their reception at the Sheraton Commander Hotel.  Grace was such a fun bride to work with!  Here are a few pictures from their wedding last October.

The bride's bouquet was made up of calla lilies, roses, orchids, celosia, pin cushions, hypericum berries and safari sunset greens.

The MOH carried a slightly smaller and simpler version of the bride's bouquet.

The table centerpieces were made up of a mix of high and low arrangements.

The tall arrangements were made up of curly willow branches, calla lilies, and mokara orchids.

The bride found the unique bronze urns used for the low centerpieces.  We filled the urns with a mix of seasonal fruits, flowers and greens, which included, roses, celosia, dahlias, pin cushions, berries, pomegranates, orchids, safari sunset greens and more!

 The place card table arrangement was filled with large dahlias, orchids, celosia, safari sunset, and curly willow.

My last wedding of 2012 was Emily & Joseph, who had their reception in the Tirrell Room in Quincy, MA.  The main wedding colors were red wine and gold, but we kept the bride's bouquet on the lighter side with ivory and champagne roses mixed with white ranunculus, accented with gold ribbon.

The bridesmaids carried a mix of roses, spray roses, ranunculus, mums and cremon.

The toss bouquet was made up of a mix of flowers from the bride and bridesmaid bouquets.

 The mothers carried posy bouquets of ivory roses with hypericum berries and accent greens.

Meagan & Jason: Popponesset Inn, Cape Cod Wedding

This next wedding was definitely one of my favorites from this year - bold fall colors, beachy accents, and one of my favorite Cape venues!  Meagan is such a sweetheart, and was so fun to work with.  She sent me a few bouquet pictures for inspiration, and the adorable little starfish for the boutonnieres for this beachy fall Cape Cod wedding.  Congrats to Meagan & Jason!
